Future aircraft can fly 24 times faster than sound!
Called Antipode, the new private business aircraft design by Charles Bombardier is 10-seater and it can travel 12 times faster than the Concorde, a passenger jet, operated until 2003. It was able to fly twice the speed of sound.
Travelling 24 times the speed of sound could seem like figment of imagination, but a Canadian engineer has conceptualised a supersonic jet which could fly 20000 km in less than an hour. This means you can travel from New York to London in just 11 minutes.

Antipode can take off from any airfield with the help of reusable rocket boosters attached to its wing. Once the jet reaches 40,000 feet and achieved a speed of Mach 5 (Five times the speed of sound), the boosters attached to the wing will detach and return to the airfield.
After reaching this speed, the supersonic combustion ramjet engine will be ignited to propel the jet to 24 Mach. It can land on 6000 foot runway and make a second landing attempt if needed.
Aviation companies including Bombardier, Airbus, Spike and Aerion are finding ways to make air travel faster. Last year, Bombardier had unveiled Skreemr supersonic jet concept which could fly at a speed of Mach 10, carrying 75 people.
Airbus has filed a patent for a supersonic jet that could reduce the flight time from London to New York to one hour, according to The Telegraph. The report said Nasa pledged $2.3m in funding last year for research into supersonic flight.
