Off-screen love stories in Bollywood are no different from on-screen ones where “love” between celebrity couples can fly out of the window anytime and for any reason.

The latest speculation is about actor-filmmaker Arbaaz Khan and his actor wife Malaika Arora Khan calling it quits, though Malaika’s manager has categorically said that the couple is very much in love and not headed for a divorce. The couple has a 13-year old son Arhaan.

Here are the top 10 divorces/ separations in Bollywood that came as shockers to fans:

1. Hrithik Roshan and Sussane Khan:

Actor Hrithik Roshan divorced Sussane Khan after 14 years of marriage in 2014.
After their divorce, Hrithik said it was Sussanne’s decision to end their marital bond. They hold the joint custody of their children Hrehaan and Hridhaan.

2. Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Akhtar:

Actor-director-singer-producer Farhan Akhtar and his celebrity hair stylist wife Adhuna Bhabani Akhtar have called it quits after 16 years of marriage.

Gossip mills point to Farhan’s alleged closeness to his ‘Wazir’ co-star Aditi Rao Hydari as the reason behind the separation. Farhan and Adhuna have two daughters, Shakya and Akira.

3. Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Kochelin:

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap married his Dev D actor Kalki Kochelin in 2011 after a period of living in together. But the marriage ended in 3 years with the duo applying for divorce in a Mumbai court in October 2014.
They were officially divorced on May 19, 2015.

4. Pooja Bhatt and Manish Makhija:

Actor-turned-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt divorced her VJ-restaurateur husband Manish Makhija in 2013.

After the break up, Pooja tweeted that the couple’s friends and foes were free to speculate. “Certificates do not make or break marriages and relationships! Life does!” she posted on the micro-blogging site. They had tied the knot in 2003.

5. Manisha Koirala and Samrat Dahal:

Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala had tied the knot with her Facebook friend Samrat Dahal in 2010. However, things turned nasty soon and they ended up in a divorce in 2012. Manisha later said in a Facebook post that her husband had become her enemy.

6. Karisma Kapoor-Sunjay Kapur:

Bollywood saw an ugly mud-slinging as actor Karisma Kapoor and her businessman husband Sunjay Kapur filed for divorce.

Karisma) failed not only as a wife and daughter-in-law, but also as a mother, Sunjay alleged in a petition. He also alleged that Karisma married him for money used their children Samiera and Kiaan against him.

Karisma’s father and veteran actor Randhir Kapoor retaliated saying Kapoors did not need to run after anyone’s money and accused Sunjay of debauchery. “We have been blessed with not only money, but our talent can support us for the rest of our lives,” he told a national paper. Karisma married Sunjay in 2003.

7. Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh:

Actor Saif Ali Khan divorced his actor wife Amrita Singh in 2004. His divorce was equally publicized as his marriage to 12-year older Amrita in 1991.

They have two children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif later married actor Kareena Kapoor in 2012.

8. Aamir Khan-Reena Dutta:

Actor Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta ended their marriage in 2002 citing “temperamental differences”. They got married in 1986 and have two children, Ira Khan and Junaid Khan. Aamir married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005 and both have a son, Azad Rao Khan.

9. Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer Winget:

Actors Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer Winget called it quits in 2014, just two years after their marriage in 2012.
Commenting on their parting ways, Karan tweeted the decision was mutually agreed upon and the reasons were too personal to share. Media has recently reported about closeness between Karan and Bipasa Basu.

10. Sanjay Dutt-Rhea Pillai:

Actor Sanjay Dutt divorced his model wife Rhea Pillai in 2005. Incidentally, Rhea and Sanjay got married in 1998 post the demise of his first wife actress Richa Sharma. Later, Sanjay married Manyata in 2008 and the couple is blessed with twins Shahraan and Iqra.
