Microsoft has come up with a unique idea of setting up its data centres underwater and testing its possibilities.

These centres, reports say, will help the company to serve the half of the people living near the ocean. At the same time the ocean will help in cooling the servers more quickly.underwater

The company has named it as Project Natick – still at its early stage – and has already completed over 100 days of trial of a steel container to test the deep water deployment, reported The New York Times.

The container is eight feet in diameter and will operate 30 feet below the Pacific Ocean near to San Luis Obispo, California.

The costing of the air-conditioning is so high that these IT giants are forced to take the help of nature for cost reduction.

Recently it has been reported that Facebook has planned to set up its data centre in Sweden due to its cold temperature and Google is planning to place its data centre in Hamina in Finland.
