Of course, there is no one particular food that has the cure-all properties and acts like “amrit” {holy nectar that makes a man immortal}. However, researchers have found some food that help you remain disease-free and build on your immunity.

Here are 10 foods that is directly proportional to longevity:

1. Yogurt:

A great source of probiotics, ie, good bacteria, daily consumption of yogurt helps you get a stronger immune system by helping you digest and absorb the nutrients of foods.

As per a medically-reviewed article by Everyday Health, yogurt can protect your body from certain cancers and treat diseases like diarrhea, urinary tract infections, and irritable bowel syndrome.

2. Sweet potatoes:

Sweet potatoes are rich in potassium, and hence help lower blood pressure. They also contain Vitamin A, which keeps eyesight, bones, reproductive organs healthy and maintains cell growth.

3. Green tea:

Packed with antioxidants, green tea maintains your brain health and helps to check obesity, cholesterol levels and skin damage. As per US researchers, drinking green tea regularly helps prevent and/or slow the growth of certain cancers cells.

4. Spicy food:

Strange it may sound, but researchers at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences have recently spices add years to your life.

In an experiment, they studied around 500,000 people and found that those who ate spicy food once a week for 4 years cut their death risk by 10%, while those who ate such food thrice or seven days a week, cut the rate by 15%.

9. Dark chocolate:

A Harvard study has found eating dark chocolate has over 40 health benefits, including longevity.

The research studied 8,000 men and found those who ate chocolate thrice a month lived a year more than those who didn’t.

10. Tomato ketchup:

Tomato ketchup is high in lycopene antioxidant that reduces prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease risks. Tomato products are also rich in potassium, some iron, and vitamins A, C, and E.
