Indian start-up unveils IoT ready smartphone

OKWU smartphones are being manufactured and assembled in Shenzhen, China and the company plans to have their own assembly unit in India ahead.

piIndian mobility start-up OKWU has launched a IoT ( Internet of things) module smartphone ‘Pi’ at a price of Rs 5,999.

Pi is light weight and slim and its thickness is 6.5 mm and weight 138 gm. The company claimed it is the thinnest and the lightest smartphone under 6k category.

The USP of the new smartphone is that it drives on innovative technology and is one of the pioneer brands to augment IoT technology in mobile phones, it said.

It has also launched U-Tag – a Bluetooth tag at Rs.990 that can be connected to your belongings and devices, so that you don’t miss them.

You can locate tagged belongings using a buzzer in close range and the same will also indicated through alerts on your phone in case it goes beyond a certain distance from the smartphone.

The phone will also keep uploading its location to their server, which will track its location without overwriting the previous location.

This helps you track your device and your belongings in case of theft, or any situation where you left your tagged belongings.
