With Class XII Boards round the corner, it is that time of the year when students are not only under pressure of performing well but also have to scan through various science colleges to select the best institution for them.

While a large number of students select science as their desired stream, they, at the same time, get confused with too many suggestions pouring in regarding choice of colleges.

1. St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi

Established in 1881 with the motto Ad Dei Gloriam (“To the Glory of God”, in Latin), St. Stephen’s College has consistently topped various surveys for both science and arts courses. It is also one of three original constituent colleges of the University of Delhi. One can pursue BSc in Mathemetics/Chemistry/Physics or BSc Program in Physical Science here.


2. Loyola College, Chennai

Founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1925, it aims at providing education in a Christian environment. Mainly meant for Catholics, students from other religions are also welcome here.

The institution offers Advanced Zoology & Biotechnology/Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics/Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology/Statistics.


3. St. Xavier’s College-Autonomous, Mumbai

Founded by German Jesuits in 1869, St. Xavier’s College was re-accredited a A+ (5-Star) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2006.

It is one of the leading institutions for pursuing Bachelor of Science (BSc). It also offers Diploma, as well as an online Certificate Program in Forensic Science.


4. Christ University, Bangalore

Established in July 1969, it was formerly Christ College (Autonomous) and was affiliated to Bangalore University. It offers Bachelor of Computer Applications, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science, Maths, Statistics, Electronics, Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology, Food Chemistry, and others.

Its Faculty of Engineering offers UG Courses like Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science & Engineering/Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Electronics & Communication Engineering/Information Technology/Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering.


5. Ramjas College, New Delhi

Established in 1917, Ramjas College is one of the first three colleges formed under the University of Delhi. Its science faculty offers General BSc program, as well as BSc in Honours Chemistry, Physics, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, and Mathematics.


6. Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai

MCC is also one of the best science colleges which was founded in 1837 and is one of Asia’s oldest extant colleges. Though affiliated to the University of Madras, it functions as an autonomous institution.

It offers over 30 regular courses in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, Sciences, and Commerce. Students interested to graduate in Science can opt for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Plant Biology & Plant Biotechnology, Mathematics and Statistics.


7. Miranda House, New Delhi

Founded in 1948 by the then Vice-Chancellor Sir Maurice Gwyer, Miranda House is a residential college for women. It is one of the premier women’s institutions of Delhi University and is reputed for offering degrees in science and liberal arts.

BSc is offered in Honours Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology, Life Sciences, and Physical Science.


8. Hans Raj College, New Delhi:

Founded in 1948, Hans Raj College offers degrees in Science, Liberal Arts and Commerce. It is also well-known for sports and extra-curricular activities. BSc degree is offered in subjects like Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Electronics, Zoology, Applied Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences.


9. Fergusson College, Pune

Founded in 1885, Fergusson College is a premier degree college. It offers BSc in Physics, Electronic Science, and Botany/Zoology/Chemistry with Biotechnology.


10. Hindu College, New Delhi

Affiliated to the University of Delhi, Hindu College was founded in 1899. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science, humanities and social sciences.

It offers BSc in Physical Sciences, Applied Physical Sciences (Electronics), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Botany, and Zoology.
