Meet Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala

 

1Congress MP Vincent H Pala has been holding to his Shillong seat since 2009 and has been a people’s leader since then.

He was born on Feb 14, 1968 to John Dkhar and Hermelinda Pala at Lamyrsiang village in Meghalaya’s Jaintia district.

Post his graduation in Civil Engineering from Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Vincent H Pala worked as a Assistant Chief Engineer.

He married Dimorine Tariang on Sept 30, 1991 and they have four daughters –  Dr. Wanmancy, Daphihi, Fiola and Azaria.

The family is now settled at Edamanry Cottage, Dhankheti in Shillong.

For the first time ever, Vincent Pala fought the 2009 elections from Shillong constituency on a Congress ticket and was elected to the to 15th Lok Sabha.

He was appointed Union Minister of States, Water Resources. He was later made the Minister of State, Minority Affairs.

He was re-elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 from Shillong constituency, standing firm against the Narendra Modi-BJP wave that swept the General Elections that year.

Vincent H Pala has served as Chief Coordinator and Treasurer of Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.

During 2000-2008, he was Assistant Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Government of Meghalaya.

He has keen interest in sports, especially athletics.

He loves long drives, music and reading.

An avid traveller, Vincent Pala has already visited major countries across the world, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hongkong, Holland, Italy, Japan, Nairobi,Norway, Sweden, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, U.A.E. U.K. and U.S.A.
