Meet Dushyant Singh Chautala, the youngest ever Member of Parliament (MP).

He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 on an Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) ticket, defeating Congress leader Kuldeep Bishnoi [then, president of Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) (HJC)] by a margin of 31,847 votes.

2 (1)Chautala was born on Apr 3, 1988 at Prem Nagar in Haryana’s Hisar district to Dr. Ajay Chautala (Secretary General, INLD) and Naina Singh.

His grandfather Ch. Om Prakash Chautala was former Haryana Chief Minister and INLD President. His great grandfather Jan Nayak Ch. Devi Lal was former Deputy Prime Minister of India.

His younger brother Digvijay Singh Chautala is the National President of Indian National Students Organisation (INSO).

Dushyant Chautala: The youngest Indian MPChautala initially went to St. Mary’s School, Hisar, but passed Senior Secondary from The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh.

He was sent abroad for higher studies and obtained his degree as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University.

A sports enthusiast, Chautala was a gold medalist boxer during his days at The Lawrence School, Sanawar. He was also the captain of the school basketball team and goalkeeper of the school hockey team.

Dushyant Chautala: The youngest Indian MPAt the age of 8, he went to Rohtak with his great grandfather Ch. Devi Lal where he had his first brush with politics where he did door-to-door publicity for the party for 15 days.

In 2009, his father Dr. Ajay Chautala was elected MP from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency.

Dushyant Chautala took over the election campaign in Mahendragarh, Dabwali and Uchana. Pertinently, INLD candidates won all three constituencies.

Chautala joined active politics in Haryana on Jan 16, 2013 and soon became an youth icon in the state.

He held youth conferences across the state and took over the social media publicity of the INLD.

On Dec 1, 2013 helped INSO make a Guinness World Record for most organ donations (10450 eye donations in eight hours) at Sri Chhotu Ram Stadium in Rohtak.

Chautala reportedly brought up the Haryana Civil Services (HCS) scam where question papers were leaked for recruitment of judicial officers.Dushyant Chautala: The youngest Indian MP

He also reportedly was instrumental in exposing the thermal power plant scam, the power purchases scam, the pillar box scam and the transformer scam.
