Bon V Aero’s rapid growth, from a small team of seven in 2021 to a 40-member team with a dedicated manufacturing unit, reflects the increasing prominence of Odisha as a hub for technological innovation.

Bhubaneswar: Satyabrata Satpathy, the visionary founder of Bon V Aero, an Odisha-based deep-tech startup, has made waves in the Indian tech scene with the launch of Air Orca, India’s first fully autonomous logistics drone.

“Today’s launch of Air Orca marks an important advancement for India’s logistics sector and for us as an Odisha-based company,” said Satyabrata Satpathy, CEO of Bon V Aero. “Developing and manufacturing this drone indigenously has allowed us to tailor it for India’s specific needs.”

Unveiled here at C.V. Raman Global University, Air Orca is a testament to India’s growing prowess in drone technology. The drone, entirely designed and manufactured in India, is equipped to revolutionize logistics, particularly in challenging terrains and disaster-stricken areas.

A key highlight of Air Orca is its exceptional performance at high altitudes. The drone has set a world record by lifting a 30 kg payload at Umling La, Ladakh, surpassing the capabilities of helicopters in such extreme conditions.

“It’s exciting to witness the launch of Air Orca here in Odisha,” said Tim Draper, a renowned venture capitalist who has invested in the startup. “Autonomous drones like Air Orca provide practical solutions for modern logistics by expanding reach, flexibility and reliability with myriad use cases from disaster response to high-altitude operations for the defense forces.”

With its advanced autonomous features, Air Orca is poised to transform various sectors, including healthcare, e-commerce, and defense. Its ability to operate autonomously in remote and inaccessible areas makes it an ideal tool for disaster relief efforts, delivering essential supplies to affected regions.

Bon V Aero’s rapid growth, from a small team of seven in 2021 to a 40-member team with a dedicated manufacturing unit, reflects the increasing prominence of Odisha as a hub for technological innovation. Satpathy’s vision and the dedication of his team have propelled Bon V Aero to the forefront of India’s drone industry.

As Air Orca takes flight, it promises to reshape the future of logistics, making it more efficient, reliable, and accessible.
