Goa achieved a 21% increase in tourism in 2024, with December witnessing a remarkable 54% surge compared to 2023. Domestic tourist arrivals rose by 22%, while international arrivals grew by 3%.

Tourism figures were backed by data from airports, Konkan Railways, and Kadamba Transport Corporation. Dabolim Airport alone saw a 27% rise in passenger traffic in December 2024.

Goa welcomed over 1.04 crore visitors in 2024, including 99,41,285 domestic tourists and 4,67,911 international tourists, surpassing 2023’s total of 86,28,162 visitors.

Resilience Amid Challenges:

While Asia’s tourism sector struggled with a -18% post-COVID-19 growth rate, Goa’s steady 3% increase in foreign arrivals highlighted its appeal as a resilient, year-round destination.

Tackling Overtourism:

Challenges like overcrowding at beaches such as Baga and Calangute, waste management issues, and the effects of budget tourism are being addressed with proactive strategies.
