Mercy for animals advises Delhi CM to go vegan to control diabetes

Group Sends Educational Material to Chief Minister to Support His Transition.

New Delhi, India (Apr. 24, 2024) – Mercy for Animals India (MFA), a leading international non-profit organization dedicated towards ending industrial animal agriculture by constructing a just and sustainable food system, has extended heartfelt concerns to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to adopt a vegan diet to manage his diabetes effectively amid the insulin row.

In the letter addressed to Mr. Kejriwal, Mercy for Animals focused on the potential benefits of adapting a vegan lifestyle in controlling blood sugar levels and improving one’s overall health.

The organization emphasised on how dietary choices play a crucial role in managing insulin resistance, with dairy products containing saturated fats that can lead to inflammation in the body. Citing recent studies, Mercy for Animals also highlighted that type 2 diabetes can even be reversed through a low-fat, whole-food, plant-predominant diet.

“Going vegan is the single best thing one can do to get their sugar levels moo-ving in the right direction” said Nikunj Sharma, CEO Mercy for Animals.

“A healthy vegan diet is high in unsaturated fats and high in fiber, antioxidants, minerals and polyphenols that help you keep your glucose levels in check” adds Nikunj.

As part of their initiative, Mercy for Animals India has sent educational materials on veganism to Chief Minister Kejriwal, urging him to reflect on the potential benefits of embracing a vegan lifestyle.

The organization eagerly awaits Chief Minister Kejriwal’s response and hopes that their message will inspire positive change for both human health and animal welfare.
