Want to lose weight? Drink water before meals!

The amount of water in the human body ranges from 50 per cent to 75 per cent and it has several functions. It keeps us hydrated, removes toxins through urines and faeces.

New Delhi, Jan 7 (Big Wire) Drinking a glass of water half an hour before your main meals could help you lose weight, a small study suggests.water

The amount of water in the human body ranges from 50 per cent to 75 per cent and it has several functions. It keeps us hydrated, removes toxins through urines and faeces.

The researchers from the University of Birmingham in the U.K studied 84 obese adults and split them into two groups. While one group was told to drink 500 millilitres of water half an hour before meals other was advised to imagine they were full before eating.

The scientists tracked them for 12 weeks. They found that those who had drank the water before meals lost an average of 1.3 kg more than those who just imagined being full, according to health portal WebMD.

The researchers are now carrying out a bigger trial on more number of people.
