Karnataka elections: Here’s BJP’s list of candidates

Karnataka BJPThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka elections.

Karnataka BJP president BS Yeddyurappa had sent a list of 140 names to the party’s Central Election Committee. But 72 candidates were chosen from them.

The list has prominent nominees like BJP’s chief ministerial face B S Yeddyurappa, K S Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, Basavaraj Bommai, C.M. Udasi, K.V. Hegde and B. Sriramulu.

Yeddyurappa will contest from Shikaripura, while his arch rival KS Eswarappa will fight from Shimoga.

The BJP became the second party after Janata Dal (Secular) [JD(S)] to release its candidature list for the May 12 polls for the 224 seats in the southern state.

The ruling Congress is expected to come up with its candidate list on April 15.
